For Pasta, Rice or Mashed Potatoes
Meatballs:
500 gr. ground beef
1 cup bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp black pepper, ground
1/8 tsp garlic powder
Sauce:
1/2 cup onion, chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cans whole tomatoes, peeled
2 tsp salt
1 tsp white sugar
1 bay leaf
1 can tomato paste
3/4 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp black pepper, ground
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, garlic powder, parsley, and beaten egg. Mix well and form into 10 balls. Store in refrigerator. Meanwhile sauté onion and garlic in olive oil in a large saucepan (medium heat) until onion is ready. Stir in sugar, tomatoes, salt, and bay leaf. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 60 minutes. Stir in tomato paste, basil, pepper, and meatballs. Simmer 20 more minutes. Serve with favorite pasta. Also a good recipe with white rice or mashed potatoes.
