Cut the bread. Place one palm heart into a piece of bread; put a ham around it. Then prepare syrup with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 of water. Take away from the heat, wait for it to cool down and pour over the canapé.
Shape rounds of white bread and fry them lightly only in butter. Brown both sides. Spread ham mixture evenly on bread rounds, sift a little amount of grated cheese over the top, and then brown lightly in the oven.
Fry the bread in deep corn oil hot enough to brown it quickly, drain on paper and spread with the ham mixed to a paste with the mayonnaise. Cover with cheese and place into the oven until the cheese melts. Decorate with the sweet pickles and pepper.
